Your First Visit to The Expat Chiro

Here's what happens, from the moment you book to how you feel after.

SGD 250 for your first 45–60 minute appointment · SGD 150 follow-ups · No packages

Booking takes about 60 seconds.

All appointments are booked through Jane App, my online scheduling system. Pick a time that works, fill in a few basic details, and you're done. No phone calls. You'll get a confirmation immediately and a reminder before your appointment. The clinic is at Dempsey Hill; your confirmation email includes the address and parking details.

If you're dealing with severe or sudden-onset symptoms, such as acute trauma, a severe or unusual headache, or progressive neurological symptoms like spreading numbness or weakness, please seek emergency assessment before booking a routine appointment.

A few things to do before your appointment.

Wear comfortable clothing

Loose-fitting clothes or activewear are best. I'll need to assess how you move, and tight or formal clothing makes that harder. If you forget, we'll work with what you have. Changing rooms are available on site. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time.

Complete the intake form

You'll receive a link to an online intake form after you book. It covers your health history and the reason you're coming in. Filling it out in advance saves time and helps me prepare.

Bring any imaging you have

Not required, but helpful. If you have X-rays, MRI results, or previous reports related to what's brought you in, bring them along. I'll review anything that's relevant.

What happens during your first appointment.

01

Health history and intake

I'll go through your intake form with you. We'll talk about what brought you in, your symptoms, how long things have been going on, and any relevant history. This takes 15 to 20 minutes and it matters. I'd rather understand the full picture than skip straight to care.

02

Physical assessment

I'll do a hands-on physical exam: range of motion, orthopaedic testing, neurological assessment when the presentation calls for it, and a look at how you move. I'll explain what I'm looking for and what I find as I go.

03

Discussion and next steps

After the assessment, I'll explain what I think is going on, what the evidence says about your situation, and what I'd suggest. If an adjustment seems appropriate and you're comfortable, we'll do that in the same session. Most patients describe it as a short, localised pressure followed by a release. The sound you sometimes hear is gas moving in the joint, and it's not painful. There's no pressure to do anything you're not comfortable with.

What to expect in the 24 to 48 hours after your visit.

Responses vary. Some people notice some relief after their first visit; others feel a bit sore, similar to how you feel after starting a new workout. That soreness usually settles within a day or two, though it varies from person to person. Move normally, and avoid intense physical activity for the rest of the day if your appointment included an adjustment.

If you experience new or worsening symptoms, or anything neurological such as numbness, tingling, or weakness, contact me rather than waiting. You can reach me directly at office@expatchiro.com or +65 8986 9630.

No package. No pressure.

After your first visit, I won't hand you a pre-sold treatment package or push you to commit to a set number of sessions. I'll share my honest view on whether further visits are likely to help, how many, and how often. Then it's your call. You book if and when you want to.

For more on why I work this way, see Why I don't use treatment plans.

How it works with your expat health plan.

Cigna, Aetna, Bupa, and AXA plans often include chiropractic outpatient benefits. Here's how the process works.

01

You pay at the time of your visit.

Payment is due at the session. I accept PayNow, credit cards, and debit cards.

02

I provide itemised receipts.

After each visit, you'll receive a detailed receipt with the information your insurer needs to process a reimbursement claim.

03

You submit to your insurer.

The amount reimbursed depends on your specific policy and plan limits. Check your policy documents or call your insurer directly to confirm coverage before your first visit.

Grab a coffee at Baker & Cook first.

A free, no-obligation conversation. No paperwork. No pressure.

If you're not sure whether chiropractic is the right move, or you'd rather talk through what's going on before committing to an appointment, I do a free coffee meeting at Baker & Cook in Dempsey. It's a chance to ask questions, explain your situation, and figure out whether this makes sense for you.

Questions from new patients.

The first appointment is between 45 and 60 minutes. That includes a thorough health history review, a physical assessment, a discussion of what I found and what I'd suggest, and a session of hands-on care if appropriate. Follow-up visits are shorter, typically 25 to 30 minutes.

No. You can book directly without a GP referral. Chiropractic in Singapore operates independently of the public healthcare referral system. If your insurer requires a referral for reimbursement, check your policy documents before your visit.

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing or activewear is ideal. I'll need to assess how your spine and joints move, and tight or formal clothing can make that harder. Changing rooms are available on site. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time.

Then I'll tell you, and I'll point you toward something more useful. Part of the first appointment is figuring out whether what you're dealing with is something chiropractic can genuinely help with. If it isn't, you'll leave knowing more than when you came in.
